One Piece: A Journey Worth Watching
I started watching One Piece in 2021. Back then, I told a senior that I had watched Pirates of the Caribbean and was looking for something similar. He immediately recommended One Piece, saying, "It's a great anime and one of the top 5 of all time." The word "top" excited me because I had already watched Naruto, which was also considered a top 5 anime.
However, when I first started watching One Piece, it didn’t seem that interesting. But I thought, "If this anime is ranked so highly, there must be a reason." After watching a few more episodes, I started enjoying it—and from that day until now, I'm still watching this anime.
One Piece has taught me some valuable lessons. One of the most important is that if you have a goal but don't know how to achieve it, just start moving forward. The path will reveal itself, and you'll find support along the way.
Luffy, the main character, begins his journey with a vision. Along the way, he meets people who each have their own dreams to chase. This taught me that if you're working toward something big, surround yourself with people who have their own ambitions. Their journey should align with yours, at least for some time.
Throughout his journey, Luffy faces countless obstacles. To overcome them, he has to work hard—because in life, everyone is working toward something, and if you don’t put in the effort, someone else will outwork you and leave you behind.
One of the most emotional moments in the series is when Luffy and his brother, Ace, choose the life of pirates against their grandfather’s wishes. Their grandfather, Garp, wanted them to become Marines, but they followed their own path—knowing the risks. Eventually, Ace dies in Luffy’s arms, and Garp, despite his power, can do nothing because he understands the dangers of the life they chose.
This moment reinforced an important lesson: If you choose a path different from your family's expectations, you must take full responsibility for it. If you become weak or hesitate, you risk getting stuck in a place where you can't move forward.
In today's world, staying strong means constantly learning. If you stop learning, you lose. Life is like a boxing ring—if you don’t make the right moves quickly, someone else will take you down.
